Following in the footsteps of DirecTV, Cablevision, and Time Warner, Cox Communications is now offering a free iPad App called Cox TV Connect for iPad that live TV streaming for iPad customers at home.
"Cox TV Connect allows you to watch popular shows LIVE, right on your iPad:
- Watch TV on your iPad from anywhere in your house.
- Choose from more than 35 popular channels.
- Yours to enjoy for free as a subscriber to Cox TV Essential and Cox Preferred, Premier or Ultimate Internet service."

Users must be a customer of both Cox TV and Cox internet service in order to be eligible to stream TV to their iPads. [App Store]

Those are a lot of requirements to stream 35 channels only in your house. I mean if it was 35 channels anywhere you wanted then I could see all the requirements, but wow. Working at DISH I have seen all the providers release just about the same type of iPad app, but Cox gets the cake because they have the least amount of channels streaming for their customers. This might just be because it is a first generation app, but that doesn't bode well for a time-line to let streaming out of the house. I am not patient man, so instead of waiting I think I will jsut continue to use my sling adapter. It stream all my subscribed channels and recorded shows to my mobile device no matter where I am.
