Apple reportedly in talks with Foursquare for data-sharing deal

The Wall Street Journal is reporting about Apple having discussions with Foursquare for a data sharing plan. It is told that SVP Eddy Cue is leading discussions and that he is trying to improve a Maps App that has failed to stand up to Apple’s expectations.

"Apple Inc. is in early discussions to integrate local data from Foursquare Labs Inc. into its mapping application, according to people familiar with the talks, as the company continues to build an arsenal of local data to try to take on Google Inc."

Apple wants to integrate Foursquare's data in it's Maps App because it has information about local businesses and even allows users to leave comments and tis to other users.
This report comes days after Google launched their Maps App on the AppStore and with downloads of over 10 Million in the first 48 hours.

We will see how this deal will finalize but one thing is sure, Eddy Cue has been posting Foursquare check-ins on his Twitter account.

iPad Mini Event Live for Apple Tv Users

Today is the big event! Today the iPad Mini will be unveiled. We have seen that a new icon appeared on the Apple Tv menu. It’s called "Apple Events" and by selecting it, the program appears.

It is still unclear if Apple will stream on other channels like Apple.com or other but maybe approaching the event will clear this question with Apple adding new streaming sources.

The newly opened channel also offers beside the recent event the possibility to watch previous events dating back to June 2011.

Apple has done live coverage of it's events before but not lately. The last event apple had streamed live was "Back to the Mac" event in October 2010, and then it was streamed on Apple's website.

Apple to show "A Little More" at iPad Mini event

This is the image printed on the front cover of the invitations Apple sent to it's partners and to the press last Tuesday with the title: "We've got a little more to show you". Now that you can call suggestive! Like we already said, in our previous post, Apple is preparing for he media event on October 23. Although this date has been confirmed by most of the websites, some of them say that it's not going to happen until November 2. The thing is that Apple is preparing and that a new iPad Mini will arrive. When is this going to happen, remains open. We say it's soon!

Pricing list remains the same as rumored before, round $323 (€249). It is still not known if these prices include VAT taxes or not.

Newest information say that the iPad Mini will not have a Retina Display!

Apple also uses this event to present the new MacBook Pro 13" Retina, a newly refreshed iMac and the brand new Mac Mini.

The new MacBook Pro 13" Retina is going to be very thin. You can see the image below.

iPad Mini to launch on October 23?

Although the press has not received yet any invitations to any event, rumors say that Apple is going to present it’s new product on October 23 at it’s Town Hall Auditorium It is very interesting because Apple seems to be launching the new iPad Mini just three days before Microsoft announced their launch of their tablet, the Microsoft Surface. The long awaited iPad Mini, or at least that is the name given for now is going to be presented next week on Tuesday most likely! So, what do we have new? It’s about a smaller display, about 7.85 inches wide. It is rumores that it’s going to be even thinner and lighter than it’s competitors. So, launching this small iPad, Apple is filling a gap between the newly launched iPhone 5 and the bestseller iPad. Of course, Apple is still offering the iPad 2 for sale for a lower price, but the iPad 2 is filling only the financial gap between the iPhone 5 and the New iPad, not the size gap.

In our opinion it will be a bestseller lika all Apple products. We have heard that women are already preparing to buy one, now that it fits their purse...and not just women.

So, if the event will take place on the coming Tuesday, we will come with a media event report.

Apple Expands iPhone Production to Foxconn Subsidiary

Due to unprecedented levels of demand, and problems in manufacturing LCD panels and anodized aluminium cases, there have been mass shortages of the new iPhone 5 since it was launched at the end of last month. Within the space of just one hour, Apple's online store delivery estimate changed from "21st September" (the day the phone went on sale), to "2-3 weeks". In many countries a large number of people hoping to get their hands on the phone have been disappointed as they move from phone store to phone store without any luck.

Until now, Apple has had the majority of its iPhones, including the new iPhone 5, manufactured by Foxconn in China. But due to recent issues within Foxconn that have caused more delays in the production of the new iPhone, Apple has reportedly signed an agreement with one of Foxconn's subsidiaries to increase production volumes.

Foxconn International Holdings is the largest mobile phone manufacturer on the planet, and manufactures handsets for Nokia, Huawei, ZTE and others, but until now has not been used by Apple for the production of its iPhones. By tapping into this extra manpower, Apple is hoping to ramp up production levels to meet the high levels of demand for the new iPhone.

Initial stock shortages for the iPhone 5 were due to problems in producing the LCD panels it uses. The iPhone 5 features a new type of screen technology known as "in-cell panels", which combine the touch sensitivity with the LCD screen, rather than placing it on a separate layer.

Three companies were hired by Apple to produce these screens, including LG, Japan Display and Sharp, but for the first couple of weeks that the iPhone 5 was on sale these screens were only being produced by LG. The other two companies have since started the mass production of these screens.

But further problems within Foxconn's factories have resulted in more delays. A few weeks back, an argument between two employees escalated into a full blown riot and the factory had to be shut down for a short period, delaying iPhone production.

A couple of weeks later more delays were experienced as Foxconn workers protested against new quality controls from Apple. Due to a large number of complaints from consumers who have experienced chipped or damaged iPhones being sold to them, Apple placed stricter demands on the workers at Foxconn.

Unlike the iPhone 4 and 4S, the iPhone 5 is constructed primarily from anodized aluminium. This is damaged much more easily than the stainless steel used for the previous two iPhones, and as many customers are experiencing iPhones that are already damaged before they have been removed from the box, it is thought that a lot of this damage is being done during the production process.

Foxconn employees are expected to work at a very fast pace and to turn out large volumes of iPhones per hour, to meet global demand, but 4000 workers at Foxconn's factory in Zhengzhou argued that trying to meet these production demands and ensure that iPhones are not damaged is simply expecting too much from them. These employees walked out of the factory last week in protest at the demands.

Instead, Apple and Foxconn have raised the quality threshold, so that many of the iPhones that are being produced simply do not meet standards and are discarded, never to go on sale. It is thought that by expanding production to Foxconn's subsidiary Foxconn International Holdings, Apple will be able to produce larger numbers of the iPhone 5 and still maintain high standards of quality. The problems caused by the anodized aluminium cases means that this material will most likely not be used by Apple again in future products. The company is already thought to be experimenting with carbon fibre for the next iPad, and this material will most likely be used for the iPhone 5S / 6 too.

The iPhone 5 has been the most successful iPhone launch to date, selling more than 5 million units in its first weekend.

Apple announced iPhone 5, the new 4 inch display iPod Touch and the new iPod Nano

September 12, 2012. The new iPhone 5 is here. In my opinion, it's great! Thinner, a bigger screen and the same awsome iPhone feeling we've always had! It seems like the rumors were confirmed. The new iPhone is exactly like the leaked photos showed us few weeks earlier.
Now the iPhone has the new A6 chip, new earphones and a new connector. Also the headphone jack is on the bottom, like the the jack on the iPod Touch.
We wish good luck and good sale numbers and hope there are no bugs.

Apple also launched the new generation iPod Touch, with a 4 inch Retina Display. New new thing about the new iPod Touch is that it comes in 5 back colors. The front comes in the classic Black and White. Siri is included in the new iPod Touch. The new iPod Touch will be available in October and the prices are $299 (32GB) and $399 (64GB).

The iPod Nano was also upgraded to the 7'th generation. It offers now multi-touch and comes with a bigger screen and the typical home button we are used to from the iPod Touch and the iPhone.
It comes in 7 colors and it will be also available starting October. Preorders start September 14.

Next Generation iPhone is ready and can be seen all over the web

Do you wonder about the fact that more and more leaked photos of the new iPhone 5 are on the web? I'm not. It's very hard for Apple to keep all their stuff secret when they have such a large chain of suppliers they buy parts from. And with the growing interest of people in the iPhone it's obvious that parts are seen and published on the web. Here you can see a selection of parts that we have found on the web. You even can see the entire unit.

Rumors about the new dock connector seem to be legitimate. It's been said it will be smaller and the new selection of pictures seem to confirm this fact.

Also the battery should be a little bit larger in comparison with the battery on the actually 4S.
The sim tray is the same size as the old one.

So, enjoy the pictures and wish Apple luck with the new bigger screen and the new iPhone.

No more YouTube App in iOS 6

The new iOS 6 doesn't seem to have a native YouTube App. A taste of this is given by the Beta 4 version of iOS 6. Apple is known lately for it's process to remove Google from iOS. Theyy started from the first Beta for the iOS 6 with the replacement of the Google Maps with their own system developed not so long ago.

Rumors say that the YouTube App will be offered on the AppStore, like all non-native Apps for iPhone and iPad.

In the new iOS Safari will be able to play in the content embedded videos. That will not be to far from what we know today.
We only hope it's a good decision because YouTube is the largest video database on the planet and it is accessible from all the world's coutries.

Steve Jobs' rage over Android Was Real

Steve Jobs' rage over Android was something real, not just for the entertainment  of this business. He said that Google is copying iOS with Android and that history is repeating itself with this case remembering of Microsoft. Jobs said at that time that Microsoft is riping The Macintosh of:

He did the integrated system again, iPod, iPad, and it worked, “but what happens? Google rips it off”.

Isaacson continued: “It's almost copied verbatim by Android. And then they licence it around promiscuously. And then Android starts surpassing Apple in market share, and this totally infuriated him. It wasn't a matter of money. He said: 'You can't pay me off, I'm here to destroy you'.”

It is a great chance that Tim Cook will settle Apple's lawsuits with at's competitors.

Banners Begin Going Up at Yerba Buena for iPad 3 Media Event

Read It Later developer Steve Streza has provided MacStories with a few photos showing that exterior work is underway on preparing the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco for Apple's iPad 3 media event next Wednesday. The company typically covers the theater's exterior glass wall with panels creating a large banner image, and this event appears to be no exception.

The banners are typically tied into the graphics found on the event invitations, but it is not yet evident what the final image for this event will be once crews have completed their work.

Update: The banner is almost complete, with the large white apple logo in the middle of what appears to be a vibrant splash of paint.
