Swype Beta 2 Released With Awesome Changes for iPad, iPhone, iPod

Apple to Patch Latest Jailbreak Hole in Upcoming Software Update

Earlier this week, the browser-based JailbreakMe.com solution went live once again, bringing a simple new method to jailbreak a number of iOS devices including the iPad 2. The tool has proven popular, with over one million users already having taken advantage of it. 

Similar to earlier browser-based jailbreak mechanisms, the latest version takes advantage of a flaw in the way Safari handles PDF files, a vulnerability that could also be exploited by malicious parties. Consequently, it had been expected that Apple would move relatively quickly to patch the hole once it was revealed by the jailbreak procedure. 

According to the Associated Press, Apple has indeed confirmed that it will be patching the hole in a future software update, but declined to provide a timeframe for the release of the update.

Apple Inc. spokeswoman Bethan Lloyd said Thursday the company is "aware of this reported issue and developing a fix that will be available to customers in an upcoming software update."

She declined to specify when the update would be available.

Apple's statement comes after Germany's information technology security agency issued an explicit warning about the "critical weaknesses" in iOS that could result in malware being deployed through infected PDF files.

Fully aware of the potential implications of malware authors exploiting the hole, the jailbreak community has already developed a fix for the issue, which was released into the Cydia Store for jailbroken devices alongside the new technique. Users who have jailbroken their devices, even through the new JailbreakMe.com technique, can thus patch the vulnerability, while non-jailbroken devices will have to wait for Apple's solution to be released.

2. Open Safari from your iPad 2 and access following address: http://t.co/OCWcFqV

3. Safari will close automaticaly and Cydia™ icon will apear on Springboard!

4. Once Cydia™ is installed, restart the iPad 2! This may take longer than usual! Don't panic, it's normal!

When the restart is done, Cydia™ should run normally!

Acest tutorial pleaca de la presupunerea ca aveti iOS 5 instalat in terminalul vostru. Daca nu il aveti atunci puteti cumpara un cont de dezvoltator la Apple care costa 99$ anual sau puteti cere unui dezvoltator de aplicatii pentru iOS sa va inscrie UDID-ul terminalului vostru in contul sau si sa va dea iOS 5 si iTunes 10.5. Imi pare rau dar nu va pot indruma catre un dezvoltator de aplicatii pentru iOS care poate face acest lucru.

Daca aveti Mac OS X instalat prin VMware nu incercati sa faceti jailbreak pentru ca nu se poate.

Pasul 1

Descarcati redsn0w 0.9.8 beta 1 de aici.

Pasul 2

Conectati terminalul la Mac. Deschideti redsn0w 0.9.8 beta 1, selectati firmware-ul iOS 5 pentru terminalul vostru si apsati Next. Redsn0w va inspecta si implementa modificarile necesare.

                                                                   

Pasul 3

Bifati Install Cydia si apasati next.

                                                                   

Pasul 4

Acum trebuie sa introduceti telefonul in DFU MODE. Mai intai inchideti terminalul, apoi apasati Next si redsn0w va va arata cum sa introduceti telefonul in DFU Mode.

• tineti apast butonul power 3 secunde;
• fara a da drumul butonului power apasati si pe butonul Home 10 secunde;
• dupa ce trec cele 10 secunde dati drumul butonului Power si telefonul ar trebui sa fie deja in DFU Mode iar redsn0w va incepe sa implementeze exploit-ul.

Daca totul a functionat si jailbreak-ul a fost implementat atunci ar trebui redsn0w ar trebui sa va afiseze butonul Finish.

Pasul 5

Daca totul decurge bine ar trebui sa aveti un iPhone jailbroken insa din pacate “distractia” nu se opreste aici. Terminalul vostru este jailbroken dar aplicatiile nu functioneaza pe el deoarece aveti un tethered jailbreak. Trebuie sa urmati pasii de mai jos pentru a boota in tethered mode si a putea folosi Cydia, Safari si alte aplicatii.

Pasul 6

Reintroduceti terminalul in DFU Mode urmand instructiunile de la Pasul 4.

Pasul 7

Deschideti redsn0w, selectati iar ipsw-ul pentru iOS 5.0, apasati Next si selectati optiunea Just boot tethered now.

                                                                   

Dupa ce terminalul porneste ar trebui sa aveti acces la toate aplicatiile fara nici o problema. Acest pas trebuie repetat de absolut fiecare data cand terminalul se reseteaza pentru ca altfel nu va mai porni absolut deloc. Aceasta solutie de jailbreak este temporara asa ca daca nu doriti sa va bateti capul cu un tethered jailbreak mai puteti astepta.
